ClearCorrect vs Invisalign: What You Need to Know

by | Sep 28, 2017

There are plenty of ways to get that picture perfect smile you’ve always dreamed of without the inconvenience and embarrassment of traditional braces. Two of the leading alternatives to having a metal mouth are ClearCorrect and Invisalign. They are both a series of custom-fit aligners intended to gradually move your teeth into the correct place. However, which one is right for you?

ClearCorrect vs Invisalign: How the Procedures Work

ClearCorrect offers three different kinds of treatment plans depending on your needs. These plans operate on a set cost and are outlined as follows:

  • Unlimited number of aligners, which is great if your teeth need a lot of work before they’re straight and perfect. In this plan, your dentist will use however many aligners are necessary for a period of three years to ensure you end up with teeth that look amazing at the end.
  • Limited 12, which uses 12 total aligners to move your teeth gently into place.
  • Limited 6, which uses only six sets of aligners. This is great if you had braces before and your teeth moved or if you only need minor adjustments.

Invisalign, on the other hand, has a customized treatment plan. This means that you won’t know how much your treatment will cost you until you get your initial consultation. In general, most people need to wear somewhere between 20 to 30 sets of aligners during treatment. You’ll also need to start wearing a new aligner every week and visit the dentist every six weeks to ensure the process is going smoothly. These added visits can take away from your free time.

Depending on the severity of teeth alignment issues, both ClearCorrect and Invisalign can take anywhere from a few months to a couple of years before the treatment is completed.

How Are the Aligners Made?

ClearCorrect manufactures all of its aligners in Texas. Your dentist will take photos and x-rays of your mouth as well as take an impression of your teeth. ClearCorrect then constructs your customized set of aligners, which you will wear for 22 hours a day.

Invisalign also uses scans and x-rays of your mouth to create customized aligners. However, this information is processed and then sent to an international location for the aligners to be made at facilities outside of the US.

Which Is Cheaper – ClearCorrect or Invisalign?

ClearCorrect and Invisalign are very similar in price. However, ClearCorrect does have a slight edge. Prices start at $2,000 and go up to $8,000, depending on your location, complexity of treatment, and many other things.

Invisalign, on the other hand, starts at $3,000 and goes up to $8,000. Both treatments will be partially covered by insurance; however, most plans only have a lifetime orthodontic benefit of $1,000 to $3,000. If you’re in a particular financial pinch, ClearCorrect might be the way to go, especially if you don’t require a large amount of adjustment.

What Can ClearCorrect and Invisalign Treat?

Both ClearCorrect and Invisalign treat the same types of teeth alignment issues. These can include:

  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Teeth spaced too far apart

Since both provide approved solutions for alignment issues, neither one has an advantage as far as treatment.

Both ClearCorrect and Invisalign are accepted alternatives to braces that have proven to achieve results for patients. ClearCorrect may have an economical advantage depending on the situation. Consult with your family dentist to find out if custom aligners are an appropriate course of action for your dental needs.
